What We Believe

Our Sure Foundation

Richly diverse, strongly united...

Canyon Ministries is not associated with any one particular Christian denomination or church.  Many of our team members and guides attend various churches.
We do however hold to some foundational beliefs which bind us together in unity.  Those tenets may be read below.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the Bible is the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. Its writings are factually true. It is the supreme authority in all matters about which it speaks. The final guide to the interpretation of Scripture is Scripture itself. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Mark 13:31; John 8:31-32; 20:31; Acts 20:32)

We believe that the Triune God, existing as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, sent his Son into this world to die as an atonement for the sins of mankind. It is through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, that mankind, by faith alone, can receive eternal salvation. (Genesis 1:1, 26; John 1:1-3; 4:24; Matthew 28:19; Romans 1:9, 20; Ephesians 4:5-6)

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and in His personal, literal, and visible return to earth. (Matthew 1:18-25; 20:28; Luke 1:26-38; John 1:1; 20:28-31; Romans 9:5; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:4; 1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 7:25; 9:28)

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; and to sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is our abiding helper, teacher, and guide. (John 4:16-17, 26; 15:26-27; 16:9-14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:6; 6:19; Galatians 5:22-26)

We believe Satan is the personal spiritual adversary of both God and mankind. (1 Peter 5:8-9)

Canyon Ministries Mission StatementOUR FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS

We believe, as defined in our Statement of Faith, that the Bible is the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. Its writings are factually true. It is the supreme authority in all matters about which it speaks. The final guide to the interpretation of Scripture is Scripture itself. Therefore:

– We believe the accounts of God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation, line upon line, precept upon precept.

– We believe the spiritual death of mankind, along with both human and animal physical death, disease, suffering, and other evils entered into this world subsequent to, and as a direct result of God’s curse in response to Adam’s sin.

– We believe the biblical teaching about the Creator and the creation cannot ultimately be divorced from the gospel of Jesus Christ.

– We believe the account of origins presented in Genesis is a simple but factual presentation of actual events and therefore provides a reliable framework for scientific research into the questions of the origin and history of life, mankind, the earth, and the universe.

– We believe in the special creation of Adam (as one man) and Eve (as one woman), and their subsequent fall into sin, as the basis for the necessity of salvation for mankind.

– We believe the account of origins presented in Genesis occurred in the span of six consecutive twenty-four hour days six to ten thousand years ago.

– We believe the great flood of Genesis was an actual historic, global, catastrophic event in its extent and effect. It is this flood that is responsible for the deposition, formation, and subsequent sculpturing of much of the earth’s geologic record as we know it today.

– We believe the above to be true and conform to the clear teaching of the Word of God; however, we also believe they are not essential for salvation.

Consequently, Canyon Ministries’ interpretation and teaching of both God’s special revelation (Scripture) and general revelation (nature) reflect these beliefs.
