Connecting Points

IMG_2105

Hello everybody!  I’d like to introduce you to, “Piggy”.  Piggy belongs to our 10 year old daughter, but is my faithful travel companion.  He has been adventuring with me for about 6 years now.  When Piggy is not romping about the wild with me, he snuggles up with Melodie each night.  As you can see, I take photos of Piggy on each of our adventures.  Those photos then become a book that I share with Melodie as a means to connect her to the experiences that I have while guiding in the wilderness and not at home with her.  The books are called, The Adventures of Piggy.  We have a lot of fun seeing the crazy scenarios Piggy gets into.  This has been a very important connecting point for Melodie and I with the significant amount of time that I have to be gone.  It has been crucial as a father for me to find ways to make strong connections with my children to establish a relationship of love, respect, and trust.  These genuine connections are what form the foundation of relationship I need to rightly train, equip, and discipline my children in partnership with my lovely bride.

The blueprint of this comes down from the Father above full of love and truth.  He is the one who set the example to follow.  God deeply values rich, sincere connections with us.  He has proven the depth of his passion for us in the manner He has utilized to be connected to us.

1) He made us in His image so that we might innately long for Him and understand His heart.

2) He came in the flesh to save us face-to-face.  He became flesh to connect with all the temptations we face and the pain and struggles we endure as a result of sin.  He came to earth to live out His heart before us and show us what it looks like in tangible terms.  He walked this earth to pay our debt and set us free; conquering sin and death.

3) He sent His Spirit to dwell within us providing all that we need for life and godliness.

4) He has given us His word as a written reflection of His heart.

5) He has given us His creation which reveals His invisible qualities plainly.  This includes Grand Canyon as a testimony to the historical accuracy of the Genesis account of our past.

These are all connecting points that God has initiated with us so that we may know Him and understand the depth of His love for us.

Melodie and I look through the adventures of Piggy many times, loving to revisit those moments and be connected. God has faithfully provided many ways for us to sit with Him and just be connected.  There really is no excuse as to why we don’t participate in His love for us.

We all need a little encouragement from time to time to reconnect with God.  A trip to Grand Canyon could be exactly what you need.

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin.” Hebrews 4:14-15

PRAISEALLUJIAH!
