Past Preserved in Stone

“The Wave” in Northern Arizona

I recently had the enormous privilege of visiting the “Wave” in Northern Arizona.  No doubt many of you have seen the flood of images I have shared in various social media forms.  In spite of all that, I couldn’t help but share it at least one more time.  Please visit http://youtu.be/OjEiO6D5mzQ?list=UUDVjTUg7S-yh9JQakFcbRsA to watch a video of me walking through the this incredible sandstone formation.

The patterns left behind in the Navajo Sandstone are water currents preserved in time.  The swirling lines of stone indicate tremendously powerful hydraulics and major shifting from earthquakes.  Studies of the grains of the Navajo Sandstone indicate that they were once a part of the Appalachian Mountains of eastern United States. Magnificent forces transported material across the continent, deposited them in the Southwest, swirled them into now beautiful patterns, and hardened to provide testimony to events unlike anything we see today.  Only a flood as described in Genesis 6-9 could provide the powerful dynamics required to accomplish this fantastic display of beauty.

Once again, we see creation providing witness to God’s power, wrath, and mercy joined miraculously together.

Praiseallujiah!
